Senator Jim Holt is a dynamic conservative leader, champion for taxpayers and fighter for traditional Christian values who is running to confront the liberal agenda supported by the incumbent Senator Blanche Lincoln. Jim has been an advocate for taxpayers and has been the leading opponent of tax increases during his terms as representative and senator in the Arkansas legislature. Senator Holt was the Republican nominee for US Senate in 2004 and for Lt. Governor in 2006. In 2004 he received 44% of the vote having spent only $151,000 against Senator Lincoln’s $6.4 million. He earned the second greatest number of Republican votes in the history of Arkansas, placing just behind the late Lt Gov Win Rockefeller.

Jim was born in Camden, Arkansas and was reared in Northwest Arkansas. He joined the military in 1987 and served in the U.S. Army Joint Intelligence Operations at the National Security Agency under the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George Bush, and Bill Clinton. Jim was involved in highly classified operations during the Cold War, the ousting of Noriega from Panama, and Operation Desert Storm. While working at NSA, he served as Watch Officer, Senior Team Manager, Analyst and Linguist. He received his training at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, Good Fellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas, Ft. Huachuca, Arizona and the University of Maryland.

Senator Holt has been on the Governor’s Advisory Board for Teen PACT, a Christian organization that trains young people to be political leaders who will impact the nation and the world. He was an attendee at the Foundations Forum, a conservative assembly designed to help America’s leaders bring the country back to the principles upon which it was founded.
Jim is a small business owner/operator and a part-time counselor. He is a student of the Constitution and American history and is a homeschooling father.
Jim has been happily married to his sweetheart, Bobye Barenberg, for 22 years. They have nine children. They are members of Bible Grace Fellowship in Springdale, AR.
